EVENT DESCRIPTION:
More than ever women are experiencing a rise in hormones, leading to conditions such as Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS), endometriosis, poly-cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), infertility, and issues relating to menopause. These issues can be attributed to imbalances in the hormones oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Unfortunately, hormone imbalance is common and often undiagnosed/misdiagnosed or outright ignored, and in all cases lead to distressing symptoms and a feeling of being out of control. Many women are rethinking attitudes to medicine and are turning to natural approaches to address the root cause as well as alleviate symptoms. There is a visible increase, especially in the under-30’s, in people considering what they put in their bodies and the potential long-term effects. With over 10 years clinical experience, a degree in Herbal Medicine and a Master’s degree-level education, in this workshop Lucie Bradley will introduce you to how a natural approach can be used to attain better hormone balance. She will show you how a natural approach using herbal remedies can be used to alleviate symptoms and causes of hormone imbalance.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:
“All Disease Begins in The Gut.” – Hippocrates. It’s common to overlook the health of our gastrointestinal system, even though it contains 10 times more health-determining bacteria than the rest of our body. Protecting us from infection, supporting our metabolism, and promoting healthy digestion and elimination. Unfortunately, the majority of the population has inadequate beneficial (good) bacteria, excessive damaging (bad) bacteria, and a lack of bacterial diversity. Largely because of a poor diet, but also because of:
– pharmaceutical medication use
– chronic stress
– exposure to environemtal toxins
– inadequate bacterial acquisition at birth
This is ultimately leading to unbalanced gut flora (dysbiosis), and an increased susceptibility to intestinal permeability (leaky gut). Relatively harmless symptoms like bloating, heartburn, IBS, and excess gas are overlooked, and for some people can mean something more serious like a chronic inflammatory condition of the skin, joints, bowel, or brain and nervous system.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:
In earlier times burnout was attributed (as defined by the WHO) to chronic stress occuring in the workplace that has not been successfully managed. A phenomenon specifically allocated to the occupational context. It was also attributed to a TYPE A personality type. High achievers, passionate people working long hours, taking on heavy work loads and putting enormous pressure on themselves. These parameters no longer apply. The stresses of modern life: social media, screens, lack of community and connection, spread out families, increased incidences of mental health issues, increasing social and family pressures, lack of time in nature, more sedetary lives, feelings of isolation, exhaustion, demands of school, home AND work (but not exclusively) all contribute towards us being depleted, more stressed, more anxious and more likely to have symptoms associated with burnout. Men and women experience stress differently and research shows that women experience burnout differently from men, and therefore need different, nuanced approaches. Stress is an unavoidable part of being a human being, since the dawn of time. In addition stress isn’t bad for us. But how we respond is a totally different thing, and being stuck in stress is what’s bad for us.
During this 2 hour workshop, clinically experienced Medical Herbalist Lucie Bradley will educate you about herbs, lifestyle techniques, mind-set approaches that not only help to adress and reduce symptoms of anxiety and stress, but help to get you out of the stress cycle. She will share with you techniques that she has acquired through 12 years of working 1:1 with patients and easy-to-implement, sustainable ways to use herbs at home, to integrate into your day to life for you and your family for achieving a happier, healthier equilibrium for better health and well being.
